Delphi Corp. earned two prestigious awards Nov. 4 for its marketing and promotional campaign centering on the 2003 Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The company's Product & Service Solutions group received top honors for the Aftermarket Business Global Design Awards, winning the Best of Show for the Brickyard 400 NASCAR Race Promotion. Delphi also earned the Auto International Association Industry Award for Best Promotion for Import Cars or Trucks for the same Brickyard 400 promotion.
Both awards were presented this week during industry trade shows at Las Vegas.
Delphi's winning promotion included a direct-mail launch and advertisement for a campaign, which gave away 25 trips to the Brickyard 400 on Aug. 3 at Indianapolis. The promotion helped tie into the excitement of NASCAR, in which Delphi co-sponsors the UAW-Delphi No. 25 Chevrolet in the Winston Cup Series, while carrying the sales message.
The direct-mail piece included a three-dimensional box, specifically designed to stand out from other mailed items, containing information on the promotion, as well as a Delphi-branded coffee mug. The mug also contained a free Delphi Oxygen Sensor. All registrations had to be completed online.
The 2003 AIA Industry Awards program recognized manufacturers and marketers for excellence in developing high-quality products and innovative marketing programs for import cars or trucks. 2004 race tickets: Brickyard 400 fans are encouraged to send their ticket renewals, upgrades and orders for the 2004 race, scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 8, to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as soon as possible.
