NBC, Speed Channel, TNT To Televise Ninth Brickyard 400

IMS Radio Network To Provide More Than 10 Hours Of Coverage; IROC At Indy On ABC


NBC, SPEED Channel and TNT will team up for more than seven hours of coverage for the ninth Brickyard 400.

TNT will air qualifying live at 11 a.m. (EDT) Aug. 3. SPEED Channel will broadcast the "Happy Hour" final practice session at 4:30 p.m. the same day. NBC will broadcast a live, 30-minute pre-race show at 2 p.m. (EDT) Aug. 4 followed by the live broadcast of the race at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).

TNT will rebroadcast the Brickyard 400 at 1 a.m. (EDT) Aug. 5.

Allen Bestwick, Benny Parsons and Wally Dallenbach will call the action from the booth. On pit road, Matt Yocum, Marty Snider and Dave Burns will join pre-race host and lead reporter Bill Weber.

Parsons, the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion, will work his ninth Brickyard 400. Dallenbach, a veteran NASCAR Winston Cup driver, is the son of Wally Dallenbach Sr., who competed in the Indianapolis 500 from 1967-79.

The fifth annual True Value IROC at Indy race, Aug. 3 at the track, will be shown at 5 p.m. (EDT) Aug. 11 on ABC Sports. Bob Jenkins, former Indy Racing League standout Scott Goodyear and NASCAR Winston Cup veteran Jeff Burton will call the race from the booth with Dr. Jerry Punch on pit road.

QVC will broadcast a live Brickyard 400 Merchandise Special from 8-10 p.m. (EDT) on Aug. 2.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network will broadcast more than 10 hours of coverage for the race starting with the "Indy Live" talk show at 9 p.m. (EDT) Aug. 1. A Brickyard 400 preview show will be broadcast from 6-6:30 p.m. (EDT) Aug. 2 followed by "Indy Live" at 9 p.m.

Live qualifying will be on the air at 11 a.m. (EDT) Aug. 3, followed by the live broadcast of the True Value IROC race at 12:45 p.m. A qualifying wrap-up show will be aired later that evening at 6 p.m. A 45-minute pre-race show will be broadcast at 1:45 p.m. (EDT) Aug. 4 followed by the ninth annual Brickyard 400 at 2:30 p.m.

Mike King will be the lead anchor for all IMS Radio Network broadcasts. Doug Rice will work as an analyst, Donald Davidson as the historian, and Chris Economaki will provide commentary. Pat Patterson, Ralph Sheheen and Brett McMillan will serves at pit reporters. Jerry Baker will report from Turn 1, Kevin Lee from Turn 2, Mark Jaynes from Turn 3 and Chris Denari will call the action from Turn 4. Mike Lewis will cover the garage area and Clarian Emergency Medical Center.
