IMS Safety Patrol Member Suffers Fatal Injuries In Accident

A veteran Indianapolis Motor Speedway Safety Patrol member suffered fatal injuries in an accident Aug. 6 on the grounds of the Speedway.

Art Morris, 64, from Anderson, Ind., was involved in the accident at approximately 7:30 a.m. (local time) and was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with head and arm injuries. He was declared dead at 10:30 a.m.

Morris was involved in a single-vehicle accident when he lost control of a motor scooter he was driving and struck a concrete barrier in the IMS infield.
