With the common goal of helping people prepare for the future, Allstate and Junior Achievement of Central Indiana are teaming up to promote financial literacy among America's youth.
This week, the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard race sponsor will launch its "Allstate Drive for Achievement" program designed to raise funds for Junior Achievement's (JA) Finance Park™.
Allstate will provide Junior Achievement of Central Indiana with a number of authentic NASCAR race car hoods that children will decorate by dipping their hands in paint and placing them on the hoods. Throughout the week leading up to the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday, Aug. 7, the decorated hoods will be autographed by several of NASCAR's top drivers and then displayed at race-related events, including "Dodge Racers on the Circle" on Thursday, Aug. 4 in downtown Indianapolis, and HANK's Hog Roast on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Following the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, Allstate will auction these hand-painted, autographed hoods on eBay. All proceeds from the auction will benefit JA's Finance Park.
"Allstate is proud to expand on its longtime relationship with Junior Achievement of Central Indiana," said Bill Ballinger, Allstate's assistant field vice president for Indiana. "In the same way Allstate is committed to helping customers prepare for life's events, Junior Achievement is passionate about educating and inspiring young people to improve their quality of life."
JA Finance Park offers personal financial management and career exploration to students through classroom instruction and active participation in a simulated community. Students create personal budgets and are introduced to the banking, insurance, clothing, education, entertainment, food, healthcare, home improvement, housing, investing and transportation industries. Taking middle school students into the world of business, JA Finance Park lets them experience free enterprise on their own terms, while developing a realistic understanding of the economic issues they'll face in the future.
"With Allstate's support, we can give more students real-life lessons," said Jeffrey M. Miller, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Central Indiana. "The Allstate Drive for Achievement is a fun and interactive way to raise funds for JA Finance Park, a program that continues to provide youth with the necessary skills to achieve future goals."
The eBay charity auction begins at 3 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, Aug. 7, at 3 a.m. (EDT) on www.ebay.com. Race fans can bid on the hoods - eBay Item # 5226340911 (Keywords "Allstate NASCAR Hood") - until the auction closes on Sunday, Aug. 14, at 3 a.m. (EDT).
Junior Achievement of Central Indiana, Inc. (www.jaindy.org) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in affiliation with Junior Achievement Worldwide (www.ja.org). Its purpose is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics and to improve the quality of their lives.
