The logo for the 2006 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard blends a contemporary look with distinctive elements of the history and tradition of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 13th annual NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at IMS is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006. Indiana native and resident Tony Stewart earned an emotional victory in the 2005 race.
Major elements of the 2006 design, which features blue, gold and white colors, include the Allstate corporate and "Good Hands" logos, the event date and the traditional IMS "Wing and Wheel."
Months of planning, design sketches and consultation with event sponsor Allstate went into creating the logo. Brad Walters, a creative designer for the IMS Creative Services department, designed the logo.
"I wanted the Wing and Wheel element and the 'plate' with the main text to have fairly sharp, dramatic edges, giving it a strong, current feel," Walters said. "I think that matches the character of the race. It truly was a collaborative effort working with Allstate and other designers in our department."
A variety of collectibles and apparel featuring the new logo will be on sale soon at the Brickyard Authentics Online Store at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com.
