Continuing their efforts to recognize individuals who demonstrate a long-standing commitment to preserving the legacy of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Allstate and IMS have named the winner of this year's Allstate 400 Bricklayer Award, Indianapolis businessman Charles "Jug" Eckert.

Eckert was announced as this year's winner for his commitment to excellence in the food-service industry. Over the years, Eckert has worked hard to enhance the experience of fans who attend events in and around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by serving up his top-notch cuisine.

He was presented with the Allstate 400 Bricklayer Award trophy during pre-race festivities at the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard race Sunday, Aug. 6.

Eckert, who started Jug's Catering nearly 40 years ago, is an institution at IMS. His commitment to serving great food has made him a pillar in the community and has provided many jobs for the people of Indiana. Jug's Catering, located at 5106 E. 65th St. in Indianapolis, provides on-site catering to a variety of events, including the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

"Allstate created this award in 2005 to honor those individuals who, when it comes to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, have demonstrated all the qualities our company stands behind - hard work, dedication and focus on excellence," said Alice Byrne, Allstate assistant field vice president, North Central Region. "Committed individuals such as Jug Eckert help to make the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard that much better."

Winners of the Allstate 400 Bricklayer Award are nominated and chosen by a committee, consisting of one Allstate representative and three Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials.

"For thousands of our guests each year, Jug Eckert and Jug's Catering are part of the experience of having a good time at the track," said Joie Chitwood, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president and chief operating officer. "But Jug brings more than good food to the Speedway. Over the years, he has gone above and beyond what is expected of a local businessman in supporting the events and people surrounding the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"His dedication and commitment to Central Indiana, its people and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway make him a fitting recipient of the 2006 Allstate 400 Bricklayer Award."

A native of Jasper, Ind., Eckert is an avid race fan and a lap sponsor of the Indianapolis 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

Now celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of Allstate Insurance Company, The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) is the nation's largest publicly held personal lines insurer.
