Donations Increase At 2007 Blood And Bone Marrow Drive

Donations skyrocketed at the 2007 Blood and Bone Marrow Drive at the Brickyard during the 2007 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at IMS. The Hendrick Marrow Program, along with the NASCAR Foundation and Jimmie Johnson Foundation, sponsored the event.

The 2007 Blood and Bone Marrow Drive at the Brickyard was the most successful in the three-year history of the event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Seventy-four units of blood were donated, and 86 people were placed on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry during the drive, which took place July 28 during qualifying and practice for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. In 2005 and 2006, there were 31 units of blood donated and 20 people placed on the registry.

One man who signed up to be on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry in the 2005 drive at IMS donated his marrow to a recipient in May 2007.

The program is sponsored by the NASCAR Foundation, in partnership with the Hendrick Marrow Program and the Jimmie Johnson Foundation. All 22 tracks on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup circuit are participating in the 2007 drive.
